A crowd gathered in Stanford this morning for the 7th annual reading of the Declaration of Independence and a toast to America’s 250th birthday.
Stanford’s Interim Mayor Jeremy Johnson welcomed the crowd before the raising of the flag.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Aemon Roberts, followed by a prayer from Rev. Dan Gutenson.
Mrs. Andrea Pettus sang the National Anthem.
Jeff Ralston read the Declaration of Independence and Ricky Davis spoke about the Fate of the Founding Fathers.
Cindy Williams spoke about Isaac Shelby and the Revolutionary War before Andrea Pettus sang America the Beautiful.
Lincoln County Judge-Executive Woods Adams thanked the crowd for attending before event-coordinator Gary Clough raised a toast to America’s 250th birthday.
