Final from Frankfort
Franklin County 61
Lincoln County 33
Summary
It was the first “cool” game night of the season, being sunny, 65 degrees, 43% humidity, and wind out of the northeast at 7 miles per hour at the 7:30 PM kickoff. Tucker Foster, Brantley Middleton, Caleb May, and Brody Baker were the coin toss captains for the Patriots.
It ended up being a Friday Night Capital-City shootout. The Patriots took the first possession of the game and killed all but 4.5 seconds of the first quarter on an 18-play, 79-yard, 11:55.5 drive that resulted in a touchdown. Then the second quarter floodgates opened up with Franklin County scoring four touchdowns in the second quarter, and a total of five touchdowns on their first twelve offensive plays.
Despite two turnovers deep in their own territory, the Patriots nearly kept up. It was 28-21 at halftime, with Franklin County leading. Lincoln County kept it within one score at 35-27 with 5:20 left in the third quarter, then fell behind two scores at 41-27 and tried to catch up. Then the flood gates opened again in fourth quarter as the Patriots, desperately trying to score, threw a pick-six interception.
It is clear that the young, but talented, Patriots are coming of age with the senior leadership of their quarterback Tucker Foster.
Two freshmen had big-play touchdowns tonight—Kraven Murphy had a 50-yard touchdown reception and Malik Hill a 78-yard kickoff return. Foster and Hill were the workhorses tonight, as Coach Levi Rogers explained to WPBK-FM after the game, “Credit goes to the offensive line and Tucker and Malik. When one got tired, the other one ran it.”

Also, Coach Rogers had no qualms about going for broke late in the game, “It got blown open with that pick-six but we’re always going to go after it, and we will never be content to run it out and accept a two-touchdown loss.”
