Atmos Energy Continues Infrastructure Investments in Stanford

Press Release

During Atmos Energy’s 2009 rate case, the Kentucky Public Service Commission approved a Pipeline Replacement Program (PRP) for its service territory in Kentucky.  This program enables Atmos Energy to replace bare steel and other aging infrastructure.

“Atmos Energy is committed to the safety.  It is our number one priority,” said Joey Hurst, Danville’s Operations Supervisor, adding “We are continuing to replace pipe in different parts of Stanford, and we will begin this month.”  The project will replace approximately 3,595 feet of bare steel and replace it with new High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipe.  There will be 50 service lines involved.  Service lines are lines that run from the street to the house.  Atmos Energy will work individual homeowners on a case-by-case basis.

Streets involved:

  • Somerset St from Anderson Hts to Brock Dr.
  • Betsy Ln
  • Southwood Dr.
  • Sherman Ave.
  • Anderson Hts from Somerset St to Cutoff St
  • High St

Atmos Energy will work with local officials should road closures become necessary. When necessary, there will be signage and professional flagging crews on site.  Atmos Energy appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as we continue to invest in the communities we serve.  The anticipated date of completion is late April 2026, notwithstanding any unforeseen complications.  The project cost is approximately $474,000.
