A tractor-trailer collision on U.S. 27, just past Lincoln County High School, has both roadways shut down as authorities work to clean up the mess.
It was about 5:35 a.m. when two tractor trailers hit head-on, according to Stanford Fire Chief Scott Maples.
“One was a truck heading to the landfill with a tractor trailer full of trash and the other one was hauling soybeans,” Maples said.

The truck hauling soybeans burst into flames, Maples said, and the driver of the trash truck had to be extricated.
He was taken to the local hospital for non life-threatening injuries, while the other driver was said to be uninjured.
“Probably 100 gallons of diesel fuel that was leaking on the roadway, and about 50 gallons of oil,” Maples said, “…and of course, trash and soybeans everywhere.”
Maples said U.S. 27 north and south will be blocked off for several more hours, as of about 8:30 this morning.
Eco-Tech USA, out of London, is handling the environmental clean up.

Maples said they were able to divert school traffic early enough so that it didn’t affect morning drop-off.
SFD responded to the scene, as well as the Stanford Police Department, the Lincoln County Fire Department, Lincoln County EMS, and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
