Stanford Waterworks is asking customers to conserve water as the lake levels are currently low due to lack of rainfall.
In a public announcement, the City of Stanford Waterworks asks customers to take immediate steps to help conserve water in order to extend the current lake supply until rainfall picks up.
“Our water supply is a critical resource, and we need your help now to reduce unnecessary water usage while these dry conditions continue,” the notice states. “Every drop counts!”
The water company asked customers to take immediate action now and included some easy steps that can help conserve the water supply including:
- Stop all unnecessary outdoor watering, including lawns and landscaping
- Take shorter showers and limit water usage whenever possible
- Turn off faucets when not in use
- Only run washing machines and dishwashers with full loads
- Avoid washing vehicles, pressure washing, and other nonessential water use
“Please do not take our water supply for granted,” the notice states. “Without adequate rainfall, continued high water usage can put additional strain on our water system and possibly cause us to enter into an emergency situation.”
Stanford Waterworks is urging every household and business to make water conservation a priority immediately.
“Even small changes can make a significant difference when our community works together,” the notice states.
