Stanford, Lincoln County designate Nov. 9-15 Nurse Practitioner Week

Stanford Mayor Dalton Miller and Judge-Executive Woods Adams signed a proclamation this week designating Nov. 9 – 15 as National Nurse Practitioner Week.

The proclamation was signed Monday, Oct. 13 at the Lincoln County Area Technology Center.

As someone who will be completing their Nurse Practitioner degree on Nov. 9, Lincoln County resident Darrin Smith said the proclamation means a lot to him and that is why he urged local leaders to sign it.

He plans to take his exam in mid-December.

“(I) wanted to start giving back to the community and thought this would be a good start,” Smith said.

The proclamation recognizes the critical role nurse practitioners serve as trusted health care providers who work to expand health care access in communities across the state, promote health equity in care and improve health outcomes for all.

It also recognizes the confidence that patients have in NP-delivered health care as evidenced by more than 1 billion visits made annually to NPs across the country.

“NP’s serve as the provider of choice for many Stanford and Lincoln County residents and play a pivotal role in the health and welfare of our communities,” the proclamation states.
