The Stanford Fire, Police and Code Enforcement Departments have released their May activity reports to the Stanford City Council.
The Stanford Fire Department responded to 83 calls for service during the month of May including the following:
• Altered mental status – 3

• cardiac arrest – 1
• chest pain (non-trauma) – 2
• citizen assist/service call – 10
• confined cooking/appliance fire – 1
• controlled burning (authorized) – 5

• electrical power line down/arching/malfunction – 1
• fall – 5
• fire alarm – 4
• gas leak/gas odor – 1
• hazardous material release (chemical from transportation) – 1
• heart problems – 3
• investigate hazardous release (nothing found) – 2
• lift assist – 2
• lost person – 1
• motor vehicle collision – 3
• no appropriate choice – 1
• person in distress – 1
• sick case – 1
• smoke investigation – 1
• standby – 1
• stroke/CVA – 2

SFD Fire Chief Scott Maples said firefighter conducted several school visits in May.
“These included both outreach visits where we went out to local schools and hosted school groups at the fire station,” Maples said in his monthly report. “Activities featured station tours and hands on fire safety training for students, helping to educate the next generation of fire prevention and emergency preparedness.”
The department also hosted a regional National Fire Academy course titled “Incident Safety Officer.” Maples said the training brought firefighters from across the region to Stanford for advanced instruction in incident scene safety.
SFD is currently advertising for part-time firefighter positions.
The department is continuing to make progress in preparation for the upcoming ISO (Insurance Services Office) audit which is scheduled for July 15. Most fire code inspections for the current cycle has now been completed and remaining inspections are scheduled and on track.
The Stanford Police Department reported a total of 752 contacts made through 911 from May 1 through May 31.
SPD Officers wrote a total of 68 citations and gave 62 warnings. There were 13 arrests made in May and 34 incidents/cases reported. Officers responded to a total of 27 accidents, according to the monthly report.
Stanford Code Enforcement reported a total of 10 code enforcement violations for the month of May.
Code Enforcement gave 31 verbal warnings in May and wrote two citations.
There were two building permits and one sign permit reported.
A total of 32 business license applications were issued or renewed in May.
