Jeremy Johnson, a local pastor in Stanford, has been appointed interim mayor by the Stanford City Council
The vote was unanimous Thursday night.

Johnson will serve the remainder of the late Stanford Mayor Dalton Miller’s term. Miller passed away May 31 after a two-year battle with cancer. His term ends in Dec. 2026.
Acting Mayor Joe Gilliland will continue to serve until Johnson’s swearing in ceremony which is scheduled for 2 p.m. on June 26.
Johnson is the pastor of Stanford Christian Church and also serves as the Chaplain for the Stanford Police Department.
