New pickleball courts named in honor of Stanford Mayor Dalton Miller

The soon-to-opened pickleball courts at First Southern Veterans Park will be named in honor of Stanford Mayor Dalton Miller.

The announcement was made by Lincoln County Judge Executive Woods Adams and Fiscal Court members during the Stanford City Council’s Feb. 13 meeting.

“We are here to honor a leader who’s commitment to service and partnership has made projects possible,” Adams said. “…Throughout Mayor Miller’s time in office he has consistently worked hand-in-hand with the county to improve the our community. That spirit of cooperation, of picking of the phone, coming to the table and focusing on solutions has helped move important initiatives forward.”

The new pickleball courts are a perfect example of what can happen when local leadership and county partners share a common goal, Adams said.

“And that is creating spaces that bring people together,” he said.

Adams said the mayor and the city council members were instrumental in bringing about the creation of the new pickball courts.

“This investment reflects a broader vision, one that values life, accessible recreation and opportunities for residents of all ages to stay active and engaged,” Adams said.

Adams, along with magistrates, Lincoln County Attorney Daryl Day and Parks and Recreation Director Kaycie Bandura presented Miller with the award.

“Thank you all, I don’t have a lot of words,” Miller said. “I don’t know what to say. It wasn’t done for recognition. It was done for the community. It was done for Kaycie. It’s something we wanted to see done…I just thank you all very much.”
