STANFORD – A Louisville man who fled from law enforcement during a traffic stop that turned up several narcotics, was later arrested after breaking into a Stanford residence.
Tai A. Doram, 33, of Louisville, led police on a chase after fleeing from a traffic stop at about 2 a.m. on July 28 on Adams Court in Stanford.
According to the arrest citation, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Price was on a routine patrol when he observed a silver vehicle driving in an erratic manner on Adams Court.
Price initiated a traffic stop after the vehicle wrecked in a yard and the operator fled on foot. The passenger of the vehicle identified Doram as the driver.
“The odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle at the time of the stop,” the citation states. “A search of the vehicle resulted in locating approximately 50 grams of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and approximately 3.5 grams of suspected cocaine. A digital scale was also located in the vehicle.”
The search for Doram was continued by the Stanford Police Department.
A resident on Shea Villa Court informed Officer Preston Middleton that a male got out of a car in front of 102 Shea Villa Court.
“I knocked on the door of 102 Shea Villa Court, and heard a man say ‘come on in’ and another man yell ‘get the hell out of the way,’” the citation states.
Officers could hear an ongoing verbal argument inside the home.
“With exigent circumstances occurring, officers forced entry into the home, where an elderly man, approximately 81 years old, slowly came from the hall with his hands up,” the citation states. “While ordering him out, a male tried to escape out of the front window in the bedroom.”
Doram was stopped and taken into custody.
The 81-year-old man told officers he heard a knock on the door and a man grabbed him and pushed him back into the residence.
The elderly man did sustain injuries to his left arm and there was blood smeared throughout the residence, officers said.
“He advised that the male kept him under control and tried to pay him to keep quiet,” the citation states.
Doram was taken into custody at about 4 a.m. and charged with the following: trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine); trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine); fleeing or evading police, possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of marijuana, reckless driving; first-degree wanton endangerment; third-degree burglary; criminal abuse; unlawful imprisonment and resisting arrest.
