Despite being as cold as the temperature outside, the Patriots managed a five-point win in their season opener last night at Lincoln County High School, shooting only 26% from the floor (including only 11% behind the 3-point arc).
The victory was career coaching win number 699 for Coach Jeff Jackson, now in his 22nd season at Lincoln County. (Coach Jackson, kneeling, pictured below. The Patriots were led in scoring by Sawyer Robbins with 20 points, followed by Cash Baird (14), Lane Sergent (10), and Tucker Foster (4).
Cash Baird came up clutch at the free throw line, making 10 of 10 to seal the victory. Robbins and Baird were the top rebounders with 12 each.
Lincoln County is back home Thursday night hosting Green County. The Dragons open their season tonight at Barren County, but they were 24-4 last season, winning the 18th District before losing an overtime game to North Hardin in the 5th Region semifinals. Thursday’s game tips off at 7:30.
