A naked man who was reportedly running up and down the road in Stanford was arrested after an altercation with a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy.
David B. Lawson, 49, of Stanford was arrested on May 29 after Deputy Dustin Phillips was dispatched to Tanner Circle for reports of a naked man running up and down the road.
When Phillips arrived at about 4:43 p.m., neighbors told him the man ran back into his residence when he heard sirens. When Phillips approached the house, music was blasting, according to the arrest citation.
“The male was speaking out of his mind. I asked the male several times to come out on to his porch,” the citation states. “The male was belligerent and started cursing at me. I heard something fall over and I asked him what that was and he said ‘it was his sword.'”
Lawson then allegedly stood up and punched the glass out of his window, went to the door where the sword was and opened the door with the sword in hand.
The deputy drew his firearm and ordered Lawson to put the sword down. Lawson threw the sword down and attempted to flee back into the residence.
“I then tased him and he slammed the door,” the citation states. “I retreated to my unit and called for back up. When units arrived we attempted to talk the male to come out of his residence and were unsuccessful.”
Deputies made entry into the back door and were able to subdue Lawson. Lawson was taken to the hospital for medical clearance. During the drive to the hospital, Lawson allegedly told the deputy he was going to kill him and his whole family.
Lawson was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center on charges of menacing, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, terroristic threatening and wanton endangerment.
