A Lincoln County High School Senior is taking on a new role to help advance Kentucky’s education vision.

Hayden Byrd has been selected to serve on the Kentucky United We Learn Council.

Hayden was nominated after his school counselor, Chloe Wilcher, learned about the council’s need for student members.

“I knew immediately that Hayden would be a perfect fit,” Wilcher said in a press release. “His leadership, passion for education, and commitment to improving student experiences truly stand out.”

The United We Learn Council brings together students, educators, families, business leaders, legislators, and community members from across the Commonwealth to advance Kentucky’s education vision. The council focuses on three core pillars:

Vibrant Student Experiences

Encouraging Innovation

Collaboration with Communities

“As a council member, Byrd will work side-by-side with diverse stakeholders, meet in person twice a year to help shape tools, resources, and policy, and contribute to meaningful statewide change,” the press release states.

Byrd has proven himself a leader at LCHS, serving as president of the Educators Rising Club, participating in the National Honor Society, and being highly involved in the theater program.

He was also accepted into the prestigious Governor’s School for the Arts (Drama) in 2024.

“I am excited and grateful to be involved in a council that is able to further improve current high schools in Kentucky,” Byrd said.

Lincoln County High School officials said they are proud of Byrd and encouraged him to keep shining, leading and making a difference for students across the state.
