Soon the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will welcome it’s new K9, Major.
After completing a 40-hour course, K9 Major and Chief Deputy Michael Mullins are now certified as a team to detect narcotics.
K9 Major is an 11-month-old Dutch Shepherd who was imported from Germany.

He was purchased from Southern Coast K9, a renowned vendor in Daytona Beach, Florida.
“K9 Major traveled from Germany back to Florida where he was trained to detect narcotics including methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine and Ecstasy,” Mullins said. “Major is also trained to track humans.”
Between Nov. 17 – Nov. 21, K9 Major and Chief Deputy Mullins completed the 40-hour course where both were certified as a team.
“The focus was narcotics detection in buildings and vehicles,” Mullins said.
Mullins is excited to bring K9 Major back to Lincoln County.
“Thanks to all who have donated and/or purchased items to help get Major here,” Mullins said.
