A Russell Springs woman was arrested after Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on her commercial vehicle and allegedly found narcotics.
April M. Stephens, 59, of Old Clear Springs Road in Russell Springs, was arrested a little after 10 p.m. on Jan. 29 after she was stopped by Chief Deputy Michael Mullins.
According to the arrest citation, Mullins observed Stephens operating a commercial vehicle at a high rate of speed on U.S. 150 east, and in a careless manner. Mullins’ radar confirmed she was traveling at 70 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone.
A traffic stop was conducted, during which Stephens allegedly stated she was trying to get home, before she agreed to allow deputies to search the vehicle.
“Upon searching the vehicle, deputies located a black pouch inside a duffel bag. Inside the pouch was 4 baggies of suspected methamphetamine,” the arrest citation states. “Inside her purse was a clear bag with various denominations of U.S. currency.”
Deputies also located a purple tube in her bag, which contained a bag with a white crystal substance inside.
During the search, deputies seized a total of approximately 10.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
Stephens allegedly told deputies she “did a line of meth yesterday,” according to the citation.
Deputies noted she was driving a commercial vehicle with a trailer.
Stephens was arrested and charged with the following: speeding; improper display of registration plates; trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine); and careless driving.
She was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
