Press Release
Stanford, Ky. (Nov. 5, 2025) – Lincoln County residents can give abused and neglected children brighter holidays this December by participating in the Lincoln County CASA Joy Tree lighting at 12 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14.
Jerome Flynn with Edward Jones, 100 Ag Way in Stanford, is hosting the event. Attendees will enjoy refreshments and a festive holiday atmosphere as the CASA Joy Tree is lit. Then, they will select names from the Joy Tree of children in the family court system who need gifts this holiday season.
“When you choose a name from the tree, you receive that child’s clothing sizes and wish list. Then, you can go shopping for the child’s holiday gifts,” explained Melynda Jamison, Executive Director of Lincoln County’s CASA program. “You’ll bring the gifts back to Jerome’s office or the Lincoln County CASA office, then our CASA volunteers will deliver them to the children’s caretakers in time for Christmas or any other holiday the child celebrates.”
CASA volunteers are community members who visit with abused and neglected children and speak up for what they need. Lincoln’s CASA volunteers advocated for 20 children in 2024. Many of those children live in foster care or residential facilities.
“This is your chance to give a little happiness, hope and joy to a child who has already known too much trauma and chaos,” Jamison said.
Flynn, who is also a CASA board member, is hosting the Lincoln County event for the first time. This will be the fourth year for the program. Over the first three years, the program has provided gifts for 55 abused and neglected Lincoln County children.

About CASA of Lexington
CASA of Lexington’s trained and supervised volunteers advocate through the family court systems in Bourbon, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Lincoln, Scott and Woodford counties to ensure all victims of child abuse and neglect are safe and thrive in a permanent home. Changes such as where the child lives or goes to school, changes in social workers, teachers and friends, as well as the uncertainty of what life holds, can be very overwhelming for these children. The CASA volunteer is there to help recognize what the child needs, work to minimize these detrimental changes, and advocate for positive changes for the child’s future.
