Stanford Police Department officers conducted 258 traffic stops in July, according to a monthly activity report presented to the Stanford City Council last week.
There were a total of 898 CAD (Computer-aided dispatch) activities in July. There were 32 incidents/cases opened which included thefts, assaults, domestic, drug-related and other criminal activity requiring further investigation than a typical call for service.
Officers wrote a total of 90 citations with over 100 charges.
SPD officers also responded to 25 traffic collisions, four of which were injury-involved collisions.
There were 18 arrests made in July including drug possession, DUI related offenses, disorderly conduct, domestic violence assault, traffic-related incidents and multiple outstanding warrant services.

The Stanford Fire Department (SFD) had a busy July, according to the monthly report.
SFD Chief Scott Maples said the department responded to a multitude of calls, specifically during the July 4 holiday week, from a structure fire to major medical emergencies, vehicle accidents and firework-related incidents.
“Our crews worked steadily to manage the increased volume while continuing to provide coverage for the remainder of the month,” Maples said.
Maples said staffing and coverage continue to present significant challenges.
“July was our most difficult month to date, with only 42% of the days having adequate coverage,” Maples said. “We remain actively engaged in recruitment efforts and continue to work toward filling vacant positions to improve consistency and reduce gaps in service.”
Despite the staffing pressures, Maples said SFD personnel answered every call with professionalism and dedication.

The Stanford Code Enforcement reported a total of 18 violations for the month of July.
Code Enforcement gave 26 verbal warnings and wrote two citations.
A total of 12 building permits were reported and one sign permit. Code Enforcement issued or renewed 21 business licenses in July.
