The Stanford Police Department had a busy August and is gearing up for a busy September with multiple events in the city.
SPD Chief Zach Middleton told City Council members in a monthly letter that the department has conducted multiple trainings over the summer with more scheduled this fall to include simulator training.
SPD has also had some personnel changes to report: SRO Chase Marcum is moving to an open patrol position; SRO James Mayfield will now be promoted to Sergeant and will move from the middle school to the high school; and SRO Chris Stratton has requested to transfer from his current assignment to take Mayfield’s place at the high school. SPD is now working to fill the Highland Elementary SRO position with a certified officer.
During the month of August, SPD Officers wrote a total of 50 citations and gave 68 warnings. A total of 771 contacts were made through 911 and 13 arrests were made in August.
Officers worked a total of 31 incidents/cases and responded to 21 accidents.
The Stanford Fire Department responded to a total of 52 incidents between Aug. 1 and Aug. 31, including the following:
• cooking fire, contained to container – 1
• rescue, EMS incident, other – 1
• medical assist, assist EMS crew – 1
• EMS call, excluding vehicle accident with injury – 13
• motor vehicle accident with no injuries – 3
• gas leak (natural gas or LPG) – 2
• oil or other combustible liquid spill – 1
• service call, other – 2
• lock-out – 1
• public service assistance,other – 1
• assist police or other governmental agency – 2
• unauthorized burning/fire – 1
• dispatched & canceled en route – 10
• no incident found upon arrival – 3
• authorized controlled burning – 3
• HazMat release investigation w/ no hazmat – 1
• alarm system sounded due to malfunction – 1
• alarm system activation, no fire – unintentional – 1
• special type of incident, other – 3
Stanford Code Enforcement also submitted a monthly activity report. Code Enforcement reported the following for the month of August:
• violations – 6
• verbal warnings – 28
• P&Z Meeting – 1
• building permits – 1
• porch/deck permits – 1
• business license applications/renewals – 8
