The driver of the truck that struck a motorcycle in 2022 and killed the operator was indicted by a Lincoln County grand jury.
Hunter L. Biggs, 27, of Junction City was indicted by a Lincoln County grand jury on Sept. 12 on one count of wanton murder.
The indictment alleges that on April 30, 2022 Biggs was operating his vehicle in a manner that caused the death of David Simpson, under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to human life.
According to previous news reports, David Simpson was 39 years old when a truck struck him while he was riding his motorcycle. The crash occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 127 and Ky. Hwy. 1194.
Lincoln County Farris Marcum pronounced Simpson dead at the scene.
Marcum said Simpson was traveling northbound on U.S. Hwy. 127 on a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he collided with a pickup truck that was attempting to make a left turn onto Ky. Hwy. 1194.
Biggs turned into the path of the motorcycle and the motorcycle struck him, according to previous reports. Simpson was not wearing a helmet, according to Marcum.
Biggs’ bond has been set at $100,000. Troopers Neal Barnes and David Hobbs testified for the Kentucky State Police.
