Summary
The weather was perfect for a second-round playoff game with clear skies, light south-southeast winds and 54 degrees at kickoff. Sean Brown of Lincoln County recovered a fumble on Corbin’s first drive, but the Patriots could not do anything with it.
It was all Corbin in the first half as they came up a half-a-yard short of getting the running clock with two minutes left in the half on a failed two-point conversion. They would get it with 8:08 left in the third quarter and the game went quickly from there.
Lincoln County’s late scores came on a 27-yard pass from Tucker Foster to Johnny Adkins with 2:02 left in the third quarter, and a 5-yard run by Damon Spigle with 1:45 left in the game.
Corbin had 326 yards total offense with 155 on the ground and 171 yards on 8 for 8 passing by Mason Salmon. Lincoln county total 248 yards (110 rushing and 138 passing). Johnny Adkins had 3 receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown.
Our InterCounty Energy Lineman of the Game is Sean Brown. After the game, Sean said, “I want to thank everybody who came out here and watched us.” On his fumble recovery on the first drive of the game, he said, “That’s exactly what we needed right there. I just wish it had ended differently.”
Our Guardian Exterminating and Bee Green Lawn Care Player of the Game is Johnny Adkins. After the game, Johnny said this about his touchdown catch, “All I could think was about the two I dropped last week, and I went and got it.”

After the game, Levi Rogers told WPBK-FM, “Tough way for these guys to go out, they took us a long way this season. This senior class will be tough to replace but the young guys coming up have a high bar to work toward set by these seniors.”

The Patriots finished the season with a 9-3 record. Corbin advances to the third round of the 4A playoffs.

Corbin won the coin toss and chose to take the ball to start the game. The Patriots came out with an onside kick that Corbin was able to cover at their own 49-yard line. After four plays, Corbin was at the Lincoln County 31-yard when Sean Brown recovered a Corbin fumble at their own 32-yard line.
On first down, Damon Spigle lost two yards to the 30-yard line. On second down, Tucker Foster ran for a yard to the 31-yard line. On third down, Tucker Foster got flushed out of the pocket and ran for a first down at the 42-yard line. On first down, Spigle ran to the 44-yard line. On second down, Foster threw to Clay Pendygraft for 15 yards and another first down at the Corbin 41-yard line.
After that, Foster kept it for a one-yard loss on first down. On second down, Spigle lost a yard back to the 43-yard line. Facing third down and 12, Fost over threw an open Bob Floyd on a deep pass. On fourth-and-twelve at the Corbin 43-yard line, Foster scrambled but managed only three yards, giving it up on downs to Corbin at their own 40-yard line.
On the first play after that, Mason Salmons hit Cole Stevens on a short pass and Stevens ran the distance for a 60-yard touchdown reception with 6:14 to play in the first quarter. The PAT kick was added by Sebastian Witherington to give Corbin a 7-0 lead.
Brycen Mullins returned the ensuing kickoff to the Lincoln 30-yard line. On first down, a scrambling Tucker Foster lost four yards to the 26-yard line. Lincoln County called a timeout at that point. Then on second down after the timeout, Foster hit Clay Pendygraft on a middle screen but he fumbled as being tackled and Cobrin got it back at the Lincoln County 29-yard line.
Corbin appeared to score on the next play, but it was called back for a holding call. Giving Corbin the ball at their own 36-yard line. Five plays later, Cole Stevens got his second touchdown on a 7-yard run with 2:21 left in the 1st quarter. Sebastian Witherington kicked his second PAT and Corbin led 14-0.
Kash Smith returned the kickoff to the 29-yard line. On first down, Tucker Foster ran 25 yards to the Corbin 46-yard line. That was followed by a 13-yard run to the Corbin 33-yard line. From there, Foster was sacked back to the 40-yard line. On second down and seventeen, Foster hit Kash Smith on a 19-yard pass to the 21-yard line.
On first down, Foster ran for a yard to the 20-yard line. On second down, Foster passed for a yard to Smith. On third down, Foster hit Johnny Adkins on a 14-yard pass across the middle to the Corbin 5-yard line. On first and goal, Kash Smith lost four yards to the 9-yard line. Then, a holding penalty backed the Patriots up to the 19-yard line. Foster threw incomplete from there, Then, facing third-down-and-goal at the 19-yard line, Cam Estep intercepted the pass at the four-yard line and returned it 96 yards for a touchdown with 9:19 left in the first half. On the ensuing kickoff, Brennin Hazlett returned it to the Lincoln County 32-yard line. On first down, Tucker Foster was sacked at the 26-yard line. On second down and sixteen yards to go, Reed Curlis ran for six yards to set up third-and-ten. Then, a deep pass to Brycen Mullins was incomplete. On fourth down, an illegal procedure penalty pushed the Patriots back to the 27-yard line. From there, Tucker Foster punted 37 yards to the Corbin 36-yard line. Three plays later, Cole Stevens scored his third touchdown of the game on a 21-yard run with 7:04 to play in the first half.
Brennin Hazlett returned the kick to the 32-yard line. On first down, Tucker Foster ran to the 34-yard line. On second down, Bob Floyd got a first down on a 13-yard run to the 47-yard line. On first down, Spigle ran to the 49-yard line. On second down, Reed Curlis ran eight yards to the Corbin 45-yard line. There was no gain on third down. Then, on fourth down and two at the Corbin 45-yard line, Reed Curlis fumbled while fighting for the first down and Corbin got it at their own 42-yard line.

On the next play, Cole Stevens ran for a 13-yard touchdown with 2:00 left in the first half. With the 33-point lead, Cobrin went for a two-point conversion to make the point differential 35 points and initiate the running clock mercy rule. Then, Tucker Foster ran to the 36-yard line for a first down. On the next play, Spigle ran for no gain. Foster ran into the middle of the line to end the half with Corbin leading 33-0.
Lincoln County received the second half kickoff and Brycen Mullins returned it to the Lincoln 33-yard line. A run for three yards, then a loss of two yards followed by an incomplete pass. After a short punt, Cobrin took over at the Lincoln Country 37-yard line.
Corbin ran for 20 yards on first down to the Lincoln County 17-yard line. On the next play, Salmons connected with Cam Estep on a 17-yard with 8:08 left in the third quarter. Sebastian Witherington kicked the PAT and Corbin led 40-0, initiating the running clock mercy rule.
Brycen covered the ensuing kickoff at the Lincoln County 20-yard line. Bob Floyd caught a pass on first down and was face masked. The penalty moved it out to the Lincoln County 35-yard line. On the next play, Tucker Foster hit Johnny Adkins for a 40-yard pass to the Corbin 25-yard line.
On first down after that, a pass to Kash Smith was incomplete. On second down, Foster was tackled for a loss at the 27-yard line. Then, Foster found Johnny Adkins for a 27-yard touchdown pass with 2:02 left in the third quarter. Brody Baker kicked the PAT and Cobrin’s lead was cut to 40-7.
Lincoln County attempted an onside kick which Corbin covered at the 50-yard line. Backup Jack Johnson scored on a 15-yard run for Corbin with 8:40 left in the game. Witherington added another PAT kick and Cobrin led 47-7.
Brycen Mullins returned the kick to the Lincoln 35-yard line. Kash Smith got 12 yards on a pass, then Bob Floyd 7-yard pass to the 47-yard line, followed by a Tucker Foster nineteen-yard run to the 28-yard line. On the next play, a pass interference call moved the ball to the 13-yard line. Foster ran to the 5-yard line and then Damon Spigle scored on a five-yard run with 1:45 left in the game. Brody Baker added the PAT and Corbin led 47-14 which would be the final score.
