Boyle County achieved the running-clock midway through the 2nd quarter. After the half, each team had one touchdown as a lot of substitutes saw action.

Lincoln County falls to 6-2 on the season and 1-1 in district play. Boyle County improves to 7-1 and 2-0 in the district. They clinched the district championship tonight and will be the #1 seed in the playoffs.

Series-By-Series

Lincoln County won the coin toss and deferred to the second half.

On the opening kickoff, Lincoln County was offsides and had to kick from the 35-yard line after the five-yard penalty. Boyle County started from their own 37-yard line after the kick. It took three plays to score, two running plays and a 31-yard scoring pass from Jhet Raleigh to Jakeem Ray. The two-point pass failed and Boyle County led 6-0 with 10:52 to play in the first quarter.

Lincoln County lost seven yards on the first three plays after taking the kickoff at their own 27-yard line. On fourth down, Tucker Foster’s punt was blocked, and Boyle County took over at the Lincoln County six-yard line. On the next play, Boyle County converted on a 6-yard pass from Raleigh to Kain Logan with 8:51 to play in the first quarter. On the two-point conversion, JaiDyn Smith-Hisel ran it, but the play was nullified by a penalty. Afterwards, Grant Klosterman kicked the PAT to give Boyle County a 13-0 lead.

After the kickoff, Lincoln County started from their own 29-yard line, picked up one yard in three plays and punted on fourth down. Boyle County started from their own 33-yard line after the punt. A short run and then a long pass to Seneca Driver gave Boyle County the ball at the Lincoln County 13-yard line. On the next play, JiDyn Smith-Hisel scored on a 13-yard run with 6:29 to play in the first quarter. Grant Klosterman added the kick and Boyle increased their lead to 20-0.

On the kickoff, Brycen Mullins split the defenders and returned the ball to the Boyle County 39-yard line. A personal foul on Boyle County on the return, moved the ball to the 24-yard line where Lincoln County had great field position. Damon Spigle picked up one yard to the 23-yard line. Then, Clay Pendygraft caught a pass and fumbled on the 6-yard line as he was being tackled. On the next play, Lincoln County stripped the ball from Kain Logan that Grady Foster recovered.

Lincoln County got it back at the 23-yard line. Damon Spigle got five yards to the 18-yard line. Tucker Foster ran it to the 15-yard line. On third down, Spigle got two and on fourth down, Tucker Foster got tackled short of the first down and Boyle County took over on downs at their own 14-yard line. Boyle County scored 8 plays later on an 18-yard run by Jakeem Ray with 11:50 to play in the first half. Bob Floyd blocked the PAT and the Boyle lead was 26-0. On the next drive, Tucker Foster’s pass was intercepted by Seneca Driver who returned it 32-yards for a touchdown with 10:39 to play in the first half. Grant Klosterman added the PAT and Boyle County led 33-0.

Lincoln County started on their own 17-yard line after a holding penalty was assessed after the kickoff. After a run for a loss, Lincoln County was intercepted again by Lucas Young at the 27-yard line with no return.

On the next play, Raleigh connected with an apparent touchdown but an offensive pass interference negated the score and the penalty backed Boyle County up to the 47-yard line. The Rebels ended up scoring on a 40-yard pass from Raleigh to Driver for a touchdown with 7:20 to play in the first half. The kick by Klosterman was good and the 40-0 lead initiated the running clock for the remainder of the game.

Lincoln County started from their own 36-yard line and with the help of penalties moved it to the Boyle County 43-yard line. They stalled out there and gave it up on downs. Boyle County drove down inside the five-yard line but time ran out before they could kick a field goal.

Halftime: Boyle County 40 Lincoln County

After deferring its choice after winning the coin toss, Lincoln County received to start the second half and took over at their own 26-yard line. The Patriots had a four-yard run by Damon Spigle and then a nine-yard pass from Foster to Bob Floyd for a first down. Reed Curlis run for a yard to the 40-yard line and then a pass to Johnny Adkins to the Boyle County 49-yard line.

A holding penalty on the next play backed up Lincoln County to their own 41-yard line. A 17-yard screen pass to Damon Spigle got Lincoln County to the Boyle County 42-yard line. Spigle was tackled behind the line to the 44-yard line then Foster threw 9 yards to Clay Pendygraft for a first down at the Boyle County 35-yard line. Then an incomplete pass followed by a 12-yard pass to Bob Floyd to the 23-yard line. Reed Curlis ran for two yards to the 21-yard line. A pass to Brennin Hazlett moved it to the 19-yard line. Then, a late hit on Tucker Foster moved it to the 9-yard line.

Foster lost the handle on the ball while scrambling and fell on it at the 15-yard line. Then, an incomplete pass. On third down and goal from the 15-yard line, a pass interference call moved it half the distance to the 7 yard line and it stayed 3rd down. A jet sweep to Bob Floyd resulted in a 5-yard loss to the 12-yard line. On fourth down, Bob Floyd caught a pass at the 8-yard line and was tackled there, giving it up on downs.

Boyle County took over on their own 8-yard line and ran one play before the quarter ended. With the running clock in effect, Lincoln County kept the ball for the whole 3rd quarter.

As the fourth quarter started, Boyle County had a 2nd down and 10 from their own 8-yard line. After four plays, they came up short of a first down and gave it back to Lincoln County at the Boyle County 13-yard line.

The Patriots had a short run by Damon Spigle, then an 8-yard pass to Clay Pendygraft. That was followed by a 12-yard touchdown pass from Tucker Foster to Bob Floyd with 8:11 left in the game. Brody Baker kicked the PAT, and the Boyle County lead was cut to 40-7.

Boyle County started from their own 25-yard line after the kickoff. A 28-yard run on first down by Adryan Newell got the Rebels to the Lincoln County 47-yard line. A penalty pushed them back to their own 47-yard line. They got it to the 42-yard line and from there Peton Leffew, son of former Lincoln head coach Travis Leffew, connected on a 42-yard touchdown pass to Brady Thompson with 2:46 left in the game.

Boyle kicked off and time ran out.
