A female inmate attempted to escape custody earlier today, according to Jailer Griffin Harness.
Lesley D. Herring, 30, of Stanford, was quickly apprehended, Harness said.
“While escorting a female prisoner from Lincoln County Circuit Court to the transport vehicle, the individual attempted to flee from Lincoln County Jailer’s Office staff,” Harness said. “After a foot pursuit of approximately 50 yards, the individual was apprehended and returned to the custody of the Lincoln County Jailer’s Office.”
Constable Mike Mullins and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office assisted during the incident.
Herring was transported to Fort Logan Hospital and later lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center. She was charged with escape (second-degree) and is expected in court at 10 a.m. on Oct. 29.
