PBK Bank/WPBK-FM Death Valley Bowl
A huge crowd was on hand for the 29th annual PBK Bank/WPBK-FM Death Valley Bowl. In the first game, Maidson Southern defeated Garrard County 35-7.
In between the games, the packed stadium was treated to an LCHS Athletic Hall of Fame class recognition, including eighteen football players, two coaches, and two teams (plus golfers, cross country runners, and contributors).
The weather was perfect for the first game of the season with partly cloudy skies and temperature in the 70s. The Patriots lost the coin toss and had the ball first on offense but turned the ball over with an interception. Lincoln built a 21-6 lead in the second quarter, before seeing the game tied late in the fourth quarter.
Senior quarterback Tucker Foster put the team on his back down the stretch and scored the game-winning touchdown with twenty-seven seconds left to play. He rushed for 247 yards and four touchdowns on the night. He also completed 5 of 15 passes for 55 yards and two interceptions. Other ball carries for Lincoln County were Malik Hill (13 for 44 yards and 1 TD) and Aiden Phillips (1 carry for 4 yards). Altogether, the Patriots had 295 yards rushing on 36 carries.
On the receiving end of Foster’s passes were Parker Hart with three catches for 53 yards, Trey Burkhart one catch for 8 yards, and Caleb May with one catch for negative 6 yards. The Lincoln County defense had eleven tackles for losses.
North Bullitt rushed for 354 yards on 39 carries and threw the ball eight times, completing two of them for 44 yards. They also had an 82-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and a second one from the identical distance that was nullified by a penalty.
Our InterCounty Energy Lineman of the Game is Michael Wilshire, who was also selected as the most valuable defensive player of the game by the bowl officials.
Our Guardian Exterminating and Bee Green Lawn Care Player of the Game is Tucker Foster, who was also chosen as the most valuable offensive player of the game by the bowl officials.
The Lincoln County Daily News dot Com play of the game is Tucker Foster’s gutsy 6-yard touchdown run to break the tie and ultimately win the game with only twenty-seven seconds remaining.
