Rabies reported in Lincoln County

by Abigail Roberts

A skunk found in the Goshen Road area of Stanford has tested positive for rabies, according to the Lincoln County Health Department.

“Rabies is a fatal but preventable viral disease. It can be spread to people and pets through the bites and scratches of an infected animal,” LCHD said in a Facebook post on March 11.

The health department is urging residents in the area to take precautions with outdoor pets, wild animals or any animals acting abnormally.

“Make certain your pets have a current rabies vaccination. If your pet is not up to date on vaccines, please get them vaccinated immediately,” LCHD said.
