Hustonville man uninjured during fatal collision in Mercer County, KSP reports

The Kentucky State Police (KSP) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Mercer County just before 7 a.m. on March 10.

The collision occurred on Louisville Road (U.S. 127), according to police.

The initial investigation indicates a Rumpke trash truck, operated by Jeremy Caudill, 35, of Hustonville, was stopped northbound on Louisville Road collecting trash at a residence when it was struck from the rear by a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Jason McCarty, 44, of Harrodsburg.

“As a result of the collision, Mr. McCarty sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Mercer County Coroner,” a KSP press release states. “Mr. Caudill was not injured in the collision.

The collision remains under investigation and is being reconstructed by Detective Tyler Holt. He was assisted on the scene by Kentucky State Police personnel, Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, Mercer County EMS, Mercer County Fire Department, and Mercer County Coroner’s Office.
